Anonymous asked: about how much of skate related media do you dislike? for a long time your blog was really nice to check out but over the past few months it seems to be more and more complaining and whining about the state of skateboarding. its almost like you specifically search out the bad news to complain about. by no means am i telling you what to do with your blog, but i find it pretty interesting how such a high volume of your content has been negative lately, yet skating is one of youre favorite things.
I dislike non-skateboarding related enterprises using skateboarding to promote and profit off something they have no business being involved with and spent no time creating nor building.
I love skateboarding so much, but right now it is getting double fisted and the only ones feeling the wrath are those who care about it most.
No skateboarding media is going to publish nor talk about how disgusting skateboarding is right now and if they do it is cryptic and indirect. Professional skateboarders have allowed these money making companies to put a strangle hold on skateboarding and the major skate media guys can do nothing but run banner ads and keep quite in order to stay afloat.
As a consumer, I choose not to buy from the companies I dislike. Aside from that, I feel like voicing my opinion - yes there’s some complaining and whining - in an attempted humorous and satirical way is about the only other thing I can do.
I don’t have to like certain companies just because that’s who pros are riding for. And I certainly don’t have to stay quite about all the churning of social media and money making filth that is going around in skateboarding right now - hence the increased negativity. I don’t search out the nonsense - it is just there.
I am aware of the perceived shift in content but I’m fairly certain the majority of what I post is still just plain old skateboarding. There is no “high volume” of negativity, but I’m not going to deny that it is there.
The act of skateboarding is just fine, and that is what I love, it’s just everything else that, at times, can be not so great.
I started this blog to share they hype of skateboarding and I guess you’re right that focusing on the negative makes this blog a bit different that what it used to be. But so be it.
The skateboarding industry is disgusting and I definitely don’t have to sit here and puke all over myself as I watch the day-to-day nonsense go by.
